The New Orleans Hardwood Floors Installers puts in, refinishes and repairs floors in homes across New Orleans and the parishes around it. That means hardwood and engineered wood, vinyl plank, laminate, tile and carpet, plus sanding and refinishing old floors and fixing boards that water or termites have damaged.
Houses here sit on one of two kinds of ground. Older homes on piers have wood floors over a crawl space, often heart pine, where damp air below and termites are the main threats. Slab homes in Lakeview, New Orleans East and the suburbs need a moisture test before wood or glue goes down. Year-round humidity affects both.
A job starts with a visit. We measure the rooms, check the subfloor or slab, look for moisture and soft spots, and talk through the floor that fits the house and the way you live. Then you get a written quote with the material, prep and price.

Frequently asked questions
How much do new floors cost in New Orleans?
HomeGuide's national figures put new flooring at $4 to $15 per square foot installed. Those are not our prices. Slab moisture, leveling and subfloor repairs change New Orleans jobs most, so we measure and give you a written quote.
Can my old heart pine floors be saved?
Usually, yes. If the boards are thick enough to sand and the joists are sound, heart pine sands back well. Termite or water-damaged boards can be replaced with matching reclaimed wood.
What floor is best for a slab home that might flood?
Porcelain tile is the safest, because it can be cleaned and kept after water drains. Waterproof vinyl plank is a close second, though it often has to be lifted so the slab can dry.
Do I need a permit for new floors?
Usually not for floor coverings. The City of New Orleans and Jefferson Parish list floor finish work as exempt, but joist or framing repairs can need a permit.
Why is my wood floor cupping?
Usually moisture from below: a damp crawl space under a raised house, or moisture coming up through a slab. The moisture is fixed first, then the floor.
How do I check a flooring contractor in Louisiana?
Look them up on the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors website. Home improvement jobs of $7,500 or more need an LSLBC registration, and larger ones a residential license.
Can my hardwood be refinished instead of replaced?
Usually, if the boards are thick enough and not badly damaged. We check on site and tell you which makes sense.
Which floor is best for pets and kids?
Vinyl plank and tile resist scratches and water best. Hardwood can work with a tough finish. We show you the trade-offs.
How long does a floor job take?
Most rooms take 1 to 2 days. A sand and refinish takes about 3 to 5 days with drying time.
What do I need to do before the install?
Clear small, fragile and valuable items from the rooms. We go over furniture, appliances and the order of rooms with you when we quote.
